Minister Connor congratulates Zaandam as new SHTA Director

St. Maarten -Minister of Tourism Claret Connor has taken note of the changes at the St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association, particularly the appointment of Anenda Zaandam as the new executive director of the association, and has extended congratulations to Zaandam on her appointment.

The SHTA announced Zaandam’s appointment to the post last week and Minister Connor has congratulated the SHTA on its selection of a young professional to the post. It is a position also previously held by Valya-Lake Pantophlet who is currently the Department Head of Economic Licenses under the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Minister Connor praised Zaandam as an example and role model for others to follow and said he is looking forward to her being an asset to the SHTA as Director. Zaandam is a Certified Hospitality Educator of the American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Institute and will be bringing her extensive knowledge of the Hospitality & Service Industry to the SHTA.

She started her career in the hospitality industry in 2002 as an Assistant Banqueting & Convention Manager at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino. Since then her career has steadily taken off to new horizons. Adding to her expertise, Zaandam has not only been a student of a hospitality classroom, but a teacher as well at the Mondriaan College voor Horeca en Toerisme in the Netherlands and the Sundial School in St. Maarten. A change in career in 2012, led her to the Government of St. Maarten as the Executive Assistant to the former Minister of Education Culture Youth and Sports – Silveria Jacobs.
