Mike Granger: “I received nothing from Mr. Heyliger”

POSTED: 03/12/13 11:03 AM

St. Maarten – Daily Herald reporter Mike Granger denies the claim by Bada Bing owner Jaap van den Heuvel that Theo Heyliger handed over the bribery-tape featuring independent MP Patrick Illidge to him with the instruction to edit it down to the part where Illidge rails against vice Prime Minister William Marlin.

Asked via email to comment on the situation, Granger replied: “I received nothing from Mr. Heyliger. The Herald received the video, made no alterations and handed same to the detectives when requested by the Prosecutor’s Office. Where it originally came from and if there was an ulterior motive is up to law enforcement to look into.”

United People’s party-leader Theo Heyliger did so far not react to a request by this newspaper to comment on Van den Heuvel’s statement that he – Heyliger – asked him to make the bribery-video.

Do you actually believe that Michael Granger would admit receiving the video? Very strange that a Hollander (not local) would mention his name, since he claims to be innocent. Snakes in the Grass
