GREAT BAY- St Maarten’s musical ambassador, Isidore ‘Mighty Dow’ York was one of the artistes who paid tribute to Rupert Philo aka Mighty Swallow at this year’s Moods of Pan in Antigua and Barbuda. This was his third performance there this year and follows his recent induction in the Music Hall of Fame at the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA), which was held in Trinidad & Tobago.
Dow was joined by his son Erno York on the keyboards, Cornelius Romou (bass) and Nikita Christmas (drums) at the event in Antigua. Dow and the trio backing him had chosen a mix of jazz, funk, zouk and ballads. The biggest demand from the audience was for him to perform the St. Maarten Rumba. The performance on night one got such rave reviews that Dow and his crew were requested to play again on night two.
“That to me was the icing on the cake,” Dow said.
The St. Maarten musical ambassador has already been invited for next year’s Moods of Pan and has received high praise from Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer.
“Man, you play great and it was a pleasure having you in Antigua. I must also congratulate for your performance on mother’s day,” Spencer said.
