POSTED: 02/4/13 2:34 PM

St. Maarten – The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten (Met) has released a climate summary for last year. This summary contains weather data that has been recorded at the Princess Juliana International Airport, a review of the 2012 hurricane season, and a rainfall outlook for the first quarter of this year.
As part of the Ministry of Tourism, the Met office which became fully independent on January 1, aims to continue providing accurate up-to-date weather information to the community of St. Maarten and the surrounding region.

The climate report can be viewed or downloaded via www.meteosxm.com, under ‘climate’ and ‘publications’ section. It is also available at the government’s website www.sintmaartengov.org, via the ‘Government’ tab, then click ‘Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic, and Telecommunications’; the rapport can be found under the ‘Meteorological Services’ section.

This annual publication contains useful information on the weather experienced during the last year; however the recently established climate section at the Met office responds to any other queries received on past weather prior to 2012. Queries can be requested by calling the Met office on (721) 545-2024 or (721) 545-4226, by e-mail meteo@sintmaartengov.org, or at our office at Simpson Bay Road 69 (opposite Turtle Pier Restaurant).
