Mental Health Foundation begins move to Cay Hill

St. Maarten – The Mental Health Foundation will be moving to its new location at 1 Leopard Road Cay Hill this month. The Foundation is presently located at the intersection of 107a Oven drive L.B. Scott Road in Cul de Sac.

The foundation says the move to the new building will ensure quality mental health care. The new building will house the foundation’s offices, a Faraja Center (Day Care facility) and crisis rooms. The building will also allow the foundation to run a re-socialization program and have a guided living facility. The new building will also halt the incarceration of patients at the police station and will limit the transfer of patients to Capriles Clinic in Curacao to only very serious cases.

The foundation’s administration and clinic will move to the new building during the first half of the July and the Faraja Center will follow a few weeks later.

“Although superior care will be provided to patients after the move, the Mental Health Foundation would like to remind the community that the work is not over yet. Family members, friends and the community at large are to be the “first” and “continuous” caregivers of the mentally ill by offering support and assistance, being informed and breaking the ties of stigma and fear about mental illnesses,” the foundation’s leadership stated in a release.
