St. Maarten – The mayor of Groningen, Peter Rehwinkel, has pledged his full support for whatever St. Martin can work out in terms of collaboration with the Hanze Hogeschool in Groningen. He made this pledge Thursday when he met with Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr. Rhoda Arrindell during the latter’s visit to the school. Hanze Hogeschool is an international school with some 2, 500 international students from about 70 countries.

Arrindell used the opportunity of being in Groningen to also visit St. Martin students to see how they were settling in, especially where it concerned their accommodation. She exhorted them to make the best of their stay, and encouraged them to settle down quickly so they could focus on the most important aspect of their being in Holland; their studies.

The Minister and her delegation also met with the DOU, the executing arm of the Dutch Ministry of Education, which is responsible for study financing among several other matters.

The minister was accompanied at these meetings by her Policy Advisor, Calvin Mardenbrough, the Director of S-4, drs. Marva Richardson and the head of Study Financing in her ministry, Antonio Aventurin.
