Mandate mortgage custodian at the Cadastre has expiredPOSTED: 10/6/15 9:47 PM
St. Maarten – The mandate of Marcia Peterson to act as the custodian of mortgages at the Cadastre expired per October 1. Peterson was appointed for a period of three months after the unexpected departure of director Clemens Roos.
Finance Minister Martin Hassink said yesterday that this issue had escaped his attention due to the political upheaval. “We will take care of it,” he said yesterday.
As long as Peterson does not have a mandate, the Cadastre is officially not authorized to register any deeds in its public register.
The intention is to reappoint Peterson for another period of three months, pending the arrival of a new director.
