St. Maarten – Rebecca Low was installed as the 40th President of The Rotary Club of St. Maarten on Saturday. The installation was held at Captain Oliver’s Restaurant.

The other board members are Kishore Idnani (Immediate Past President), Elie Bendaly (Secretary), Fred Fleming (Treasurer), Maria Buncamper (Membership Director), Manoj Alwani (Public Relations Director), Franklyn Maynard (Sergeant at Arms), Fred van de Peijl (Community Service Director), Pierre Decelles (Club Service Director) and Klaas van Sloten (Bulletin and Website director).

Low announced that the club will focus on health in the 2011/2012 Rotary year. The recently organized Alzheimers Awareness Campaign is considered a good start.

“The Rotary club of St. Maarten looks forward to the continuous support from the community in order to be able to carry out its programs and projects in the benefit of the community,” the new board stated in a release.

Before leaving office Idnani recognized several members for their contribution to the community by making them Paul Harris Fellows. This is the club’s highest honor and the recipients were Pierre Decelles, Micheline Decelles, Aadu Abel, Roger Snow, Klaas van Sloten and Monica Idnani.

Saturday’s installation included a silent auction that raised over 3, 500 dollars.
