St. Maarten —A number of the islands primary schools were recently the recipients of traffic stop signs and vests donated by the St. Maarten Lions

The Lions Club said yesterday that they have recognized the need to improve the safety of children when crossing the roads after school in the afternoon when the traffic is at its peak.  Consequently, the club recently reintroduced its project to assist the primary schools who are located close to the main roads with traffic stop signs and vests. The signs and vests are to be used by the children who are assisted by one of their teachers when school is out and the other children have to cross the roads.

In the past, besides providing the primary schools with the traffic stop signs and vests, the St. Maarten Lions Club also printed and distributed the traffic books that were used by students to prepare for the traffic exams in grade 5.

This is one of the club’s several projects that is executed from funds raised during its annual fundraising events.
