Library highlights Anansi stories Friday

St. Maarten – The Philipsburg Jubilee Library hosts a presentation this Friday between 5:30 p.m. and 7.00 pm that focuses on Anansi folktales. The two presenters are Anansi expert drs Mirto Laclé and popular storyteller Hillie Arduin.
Laclé, who is a linguist, researcher and expert on Anansi stories, will highlight the cultural and historical importance of Anansi-folktales. Arduin, who is well known in the Netherlands Surinam and Curacao as a masterful storyteller, writer and trainer, uses Anansi stories for her educational workshops and counseling sessions. Her presentation will include a performance of one of her famous Anansi stories.
