St. Maarten – The Philipsburg Jubilee Library and the Ark Foundation are jointly hosting a storytelling festival on Sunday themed “It takes a story to raise a child.” The event will be held in the Emilio Wilson Park from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the school busses will run through the various districts to carry children to and from the event at no cost. Stories from the Netherlands, Saba, Curacao, Suriname, Aruba and St. Maarten will be told.
Aruban children’s author Olga Buckley will perform at the event. Buckley, who coordinates a bedtime story program titled Bon Nochi, Drumi Dushi (Good night, sleep well), will also give workshops during her visit as part of the two day Read me a bedtime story workshop. The workshop will held March 7th and March 8th at the Belvedere Community Center and the Philipsburg Jubilee Library respectively between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The workshop and story telling festival are financed by the Kultura Fund. People who need more information can contact Maryland Powell at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library on telephone number 542-2970 or at pr@stmaartenlibrary.org.
