Dear Editor,

The event that took place in Boo Boo jam is a part of the change St. Maarten/St. Martin needs. This is a classic example that French or Dutch nationality does not mean you are a St. Maartener/St. Martiner. Some foolishly argue once you born here you are a St. Maartener. If that is the case where is all the 35, 000 St. Martiners who should be showing support for those workers at Boo Boo jam. They have to beg people to support them.

People are only St. Maarteners/St. Martiners when it is convenient for their interest. If every person that was born here was a St. Maartener/St. Martiners that event at Boo Boo jam would have been solved a long time ago. If every person that was born here was a St. Maartener/St. Martiner our constitution would have recognized us long time. Then we have some Johnny come lately for popularity saying once you born here you are a St. Maartener. If that is true how is it then that the culture of Haitians, Dominicanos, Guyanese, Europeans, Dominicans has so easily over powered St Maarten/St. Martin’s culture.

Only a fool would preach or say that once you born here you are from here. The truth does not display that so called reality. If that was true Leopold James and the St. Martin Nation Building Foundation along with, the Patriot, Miguel Arrindell would not have to be here defending the real native St. Maarten/St. Martin people of heritage’s interest and taking insults and mockery from the so called, other St. Maarteners/St. Martiners. The reality of what some deceivers would like you to believe is not truth.

Boo Boo jam event is a blessing in disguise and the people of St. Maarten/St. Martin Heritage better start defending their interest every day and start opening their mouth when events like Boo Boo jam take place, instead of being dormant until such other event arise.

If all true St. Maarteners/St. Martiners want real representation they must understand who they truly are and start defending all people of St. Maarten/St. Martin Heritage all the time and not only when it affects them or a friend or a family member. You’re either a St. Maartener/St. Martiner every day or none at all. A true St. Maartener/St. Martiner will never hurt or take part in a process that will hurt other St. Maarteners/St. Martiners or mock other St. Maarteners/St. Martiners. Remember St. Maartener/St. Martiner is an identity and not a nationality.

Imagine if in the next 10 years Chinese people are the majority that is born here. Would they be call native St. Maarten/St. Martin people of heritage? Any Jackass could understand what I am now saying. Born here is a number that increase nationality, but that does not have nothing to do with identity. Do you think Chinese or Indians or Europeans will stick their head out for the native St. Maarten/St. Martin people of heritage? If so, then why is that guy from Boo Boo jam still there? True St. Maarteners/St. Martiners wake up. Only we can and must help ourselves. Stop being cowards and stand and defend people of St. Maarten/St. Martin Heritage interest. Truth or dare.

Yours truly,

Miguel Arrindell

The Patriot
