Letter: In response to “A moment of sober…….billboard in St Peter”

POSTED: 06/11/12 1:09 PM

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Board of Safe Haven Foundation, I thank Mr. Arrindell for his comments. Many points he brought forward have our serious attention.  As soon as funds are available we will extend our services to other areas of Domestic Violence.

That Domestic Violence focuses on violence against women is not coincidental. As you read this piece, women and men are being abused by their partners.  However, the abuse against women often ends in the untimely death of the woman. Even on our island we do not have to go into the distant past for examples of abusive situations ending with the murder of the woman.

During the month of November Safe Haven Foundation commemorates Domestic Violence. Our activities are informative and family oriented.  A Silent Witness March is held to remember those whose lives came to an abrupt end during a domestic dispute. We invite everyone, man and woman, to support these events.

Any organization interested in an information session on Domestic Violence is free to call us on 9333 to make an appointment. Please visit our website: www.safehavensxm.org and our Facebook page and keep abreast of all developments and activities of our foundation.

O. Bryson-Pantophlet

President of the Board of Safe Haven Foundation
