2012 will always be remembered and considered a year of trials, loss and knowledge gained. Nevertheless, I embrace 2013 with a stronghold, positivity and gratitude to be a part of it, giving me the opportunity to take all learnt to better my personality not giving man dominion over my faith but God who is in control.

It has become evident to me that not every smile means well; people today are so divided, give care to only their own purpose in life and that of their immediate family and so they refuse to help their fellow brother or sister. They so often make promises to give aid, speak publicly of giving thanks to God Almighty to boost their appearance, to convince others they are so honest and kind but behind it all it is just an empty shell, an individual secluded in mind and soul from those that are less fortunate that really reach out to them for help.

What defines an individual as a person? Is it their personalities or just their life experiences? Growing as a man I am walking the path of understanding humanity, I have come to believe that meaningful events in one’s life, their experiences resulting in failure and (eventually) accomplishments, ultimately define a person. It has also become clear to me that power does not really define a person. There are so many people on this island that possess power and yet they are powerless. Many have descended from the poverty and have forgotten how it was and how it is for the unfortunate. They live with pride and judgment of others; forgetting they have no authority to judge and that judgment are upon them but from him that is the judge.   These things, thankfully, are just a movement in time and will just be for a short while. We need to understand that challenges will come and by welcoming challenges we enable ourselves to test our abilities, develop our experiences and character with regards to dealing with people and situations around us. Loss of a loved one can put you to such a test; especially someone that played such a role in laying the foundation of which you are built. Such loss can deteriorate the structure of your life and the way your path ends but if the foundation is solid when such loss comes you need to reinforce all the columns and continue life, create a new chapter, e.a. the old and new testament, the new testament did not destroy the old, it only give more fulfillment to the existing testament. So should man live; we are here and those before us, we in time  lose but that is where we fulfill the cycle and so should we teach and build character in our children that come after us.  Unfortunately, individualism is destroying that cycle.

I remember at times when things went wrong, my faith wore somewhat thin. But all at once the dark clouds broke, and the sun peeped through right in. So Lord, help me not to gripe, about the tough rows up ahead. God give me strength, courage, wisdom when the way grows steep and rough. I’ll not ask for other blessings, I’m already blessed enough.  May I never be too busy, to help others bear their loads. When I think of how many people in this world have it worse than I do. I realize just how blessed most of us really are. Life’s battles don’t always have the stronger or faster man; but sooner or later the man who wins is the person who thinks he can, If you think you’re outclassed, you are not; you’ve got to think high to rise. You’ve got to be sure of yourself before you’ll ever win prizes, face the world and what life offers, To conquer, love, live and laughter: And you’ll find the happiness that endures
The measure you give; There’s nothing too good for you to possess, Nor heights where you cannot go: Your power is more than belief or guess -It is something you have to know.
