St. Maarten – “Laughter has no frontiers and no barriers. It is a natural expression that everyone ought to practice.” It is from this premise that the More Fun, More Laughter Foundation will be producing Laugh till Belly Burst 7 come June 29 and June 30. The production which began in August 2004 has steadily attracted quality standup comedians.  The first night’s show will be held at the Port-de-Plaisance rotunda and the Bel Air Community Centre on the following night.

This year’s lineup includes the iconic British comedian Gina Yashere, who has performed across the globe since leaving her native Nigeria. Marc Trinidad of Toronto, New York’s Susanne Kennedy and master imitator Lord Relator also form part of the acclaimed lineup. The show’s coordinator Glen Brooks said that his organization has always focused on attracting quality performers to the island.

“These are comedians of a certain caliber and the most difficult thing is to get all them on the same stage at the same time. You have to be out there organizing for nearly six to seven months in advance. But we are at a place today where we can say that our consistence, hard work, promotional skills and St. Maarten’s warm hospitality has kept them coming back and even referring other persons to us.”

Brooks promised to remain true to his foundation’s goal of securing entertainers that are knowledgeable about the Caribbean culture so that the audience can easily relate to them. “We have always brought comedians that the local masses can easily relate to. There is no foul language because we are a conservative society in some ways but the show will be for adults only. You will be guaranteed close to 35 minutes of performance from each comedian.”

Apart from the main acts, local entertainment will be provided by Ricky Da Phox Bertie and radio DJ Dutty Sham who will perform a skit. Leroy King Beau Beau Brooks will be back by popular demand in the role of MC.

Brooks said that Laugh Till Belly Burst traditionally attracts many tourists and persons from both the French and Dutch sides of the island. He expects this year’s attendance to exceed their expectations.
