St. Maarten – Local author Latoya Lake received a token of accomplishment from Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication Claret Connor at the launch of her first book “It’s like Déjà vu with You” at the Holland House Beach Hotel.
Surrounded by family, friends and well-wishers, Lake who is lab technician and pharmacist assistant by profession, was lauded for the accomplishment of her book.
Minister Connor encouraged the St. Maarten youth at the gathering to use Lake’s work and dedication as an inspiration to develop their own natural talents. “As a daughter of our soil, she made us proud by what she has accomplished,” he noted. “Her dedication to her family and her profession, coupled with her willingness to ingeniously translate a myriad of thought and encapsulating more than 80,000 words in the form of a novel is a testament to this.”
The potential of how far this novel can reach is immeasurable, Connor said with a reference to the TV series Empire.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Sint Maarten, I am extremely proud of you and wish you well in your future endeavors,” Connor said .
