Labor affairs department offers service at community helpdesk

St. Maarten – The Department of Labor Affairs has stationed a job placement and complaints officer at the community helpdesk in St. Peters. The two officers will be available every Wednesday between 8:30 p.m. and 12:00 to help register for jobs or make complaints.

“Persons can also come in to the community helpdesk to make complaints about the private sector as it relates to infringement of the labor laws, employee rights and dismissal procedures,” Head of Labor Affairs, Peggy-Ann Dros-Richardson said.

Placing the two staffers at the Rupert I Maynard Youth and Community Center is part of a broader strategy to ensure that staffers from both Labor Affairs and Social Affairs are manning the Help Desk at all time and are giving information on services offered at the Ministry of Public Health Social Development & Labor. The general opening hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Help Desk closes on Tuesday afternoon so the staffers can receive training.

People can visit the helpdesk or call them at 548-4633 or 548-4634.
