King Yen Taekwondo school returns victorious

St. Maarten – Minister of Sports Silveria Jacobs was on hand Wednesday night to welcome back the St. Maarten Taekwondo team that recently took part in the All-Star International Taekwondo open tournament in Orlando, USA.
Grand Master Theo Liu was proud to report the success of his athletes, who won 20 gold, 15 silver and 9 bronze medals all together. He further expressed that St. Maarten was the smallest country represented at the tournament competing against the USA and other large countries.
The Minister congratulated them on their achievement and acknowledged them as ambassadors of our island nation. The Minister also congratulated Grand Master Liu, the volunteers and their parents who helped to prepare the children to complete at such a high level. Minister Jacobs encouraged the athletes to continue to display discipline and strength of character in their chosen sport as well as in their daily lives.
She pledged continued support for the organization in its role of helping to mold productive citizens for St. Maarten.
