POSTED: 04/14/11 12:00 PM

St. Maarten – Justice Minister Roland Duncan announced Wednesday that the visa requirement for Guyanese and Jamaicans came into “immediate enforcement” on March 11. The announcement of the restriction was made Tuesday, a day after the regime took effect. Wednesday’s statement means that there will be no grace period and all people from the two countries arriving here, will have to show a visa.

Duncan has also clarified that the Dutch Embassy in Trinidad is the entity in the region responsible for issuing visas to people from the English speaking Caribbean. He also points out that information on the requirements has been listed on the government’s website: www.sintmaartengov.org/visitors.
