WILLEMSTAD – Finance Minister George Jamaloodin denies that he is a suspect in the Bientu-investigation. He told the Antilliaans Dagblad that he has been interrogated, “but not as a suspect.”
The minister said that he had answered questions put to him by the team that investigates allegations of fraud, forgery and money laundering against lottery-boss Robbie dos Santos. “They asked me questions related to that case against my brother but I have nothing to do with that.. I know I cannot be a suspect because I did nothing wrong.”

Jamaloodin told the newspaper that there is a difference between being a suspect and being convicted. “There are so many people suspected of something. But as long as there is no proof for a suspicion, it is really nothing special. We see that for instance with people like Ramonsito Booi and Burney El Hage. They were also suspects, right? One of them is now a commissioner. A real suspect gets restraints during an investigation. He is for instance not allowed to move around freely or to make unrestricted phone calls. Have these restrictions been imposed on me? Not at all.”
