St. Maarten – Beyond the hustle and bustle of the trading floor participants at the 10th St. Maarten Annual Regional Tradeshow participants will have the chance to learn how to use the internet to market their business. The training will be given on May 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Westin Resort. Seating is limited and business people are being asked to register before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday by calling the St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association at 542-0108 or sending an e-mail to info@shta.com.

The seminar is broken down into three sessions. The first is an update on the Tourism Statistical Information System, which is likely to be implemented this year. The second session focuses on maximizing exposure through the Tourist Office’s marketing tools like the website and iPhone application. The final session will focus on effective ways to reach markets through internet and social media.

Smart 2011 will run from May 25 to May 27 at the Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Spa. Delegates from eight islands have committed to attending to the event, which comes at a time of falling revenue due the global financial crisis. The three day gathering begins with a welcome reception at the Westin. A full day of appointments will follow on May 26 and additional appointments can be made for May 27.
