St. Maarten – Insel Air has received IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification and become a member of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (Alta). Attaining the certification is the reason the airline was able to join the organization. It also means that the airline has met the standards laid out in an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system relating to management and control systems.
“The IOSA certification is a great step forward in the execution of our mission statement, in which we focus on creating greater connectivity within the Pan-American region and greater collaboration with partnering airlines,” InselAir’s Chief Executive Officer Albert Kluyver stated in a release.
“We operate 16 international destinations, connecting North and South America and the Caribbean, while focusing on safety, on-time performance and customer service. The achievement of the IOSA certification and Alta membership is a stable substructure for InselAir and the more than 1 million passengers we expect to welcome in 2012,” he added.

Alta applauded InselAir’s certification on November 17 by saying the airline had achieved the industry’s highest standard in safety. There was also commendation for being the first “graduate” of Alta’s IOSA Fulfillment Plan, which was created in 2009.
“IOSA membership is a key requirement for membership at the association. Our goal is to curtail safety risks and to match and surpass the safety record of the U.S. by 2014. We are thrilled with InselAir’s accomplishment, and gladly welcome them as an ALTA member,” Alta’s Executive Director Alex de Gunten said.
