Insel Air Bandeirante makes emergency landing

POSTED: 11/2/12 1:56 PM

WILLEMSTAD – Wednesday at 7.30 am a Bandeirante aircraft from Insel Air traveling to Bonaire with 15 people on board had to make an emergency landing at Hato international airport. After takeoff the front gear indicator showed that the plane’s nose wheel was not locked. The pilot turned the plane around and landed safely at Hato. Insel air CEO Edward Heerenveen said that an inspection showed there was nothing wrong with the landing gear but that the light sensor had a problem.
That got fixed and the plane is back in service. “I am happy that it was just a false alarm and I am proud of the pilot for landing the plane safely,” Heerenveen said.
