St. Maarten —An inmate housed at the Simpson Bay prison cells was stabbed yesterday and taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center for treatment where he remains for observation, according to police spokesman inspector Ricardo Henson.

A search of the prison cells was conducted yesterday in an attempt to locate the possible weapon used in this stabbing but as at press time there were no reports of the weapon having been discovered.
