Kangaroo CourtKangaroo Court, the iconic bar and restaurant across from the courthouse in the Hendrik Straat in Philipsburg has closed its doors. The Kangaroo Court sign has been removed from the building and it is unclear if and when the place is going to reopen, possibly under new ownership.

Kangaroo court was the favorite haunt for court reporters, but also for bank employees, attorneys and many others who worked in the vicinity. Even Governor Holiday claimed at times a table there for a quiet lunch.

An employee who sat outside the establishment yesterday morning said that the place might open again, but he did not know if or when this is going to happen.

In the picture, a man walks past the closed doors of the restaurant.
