Hurricane pass requirements for foreign business owners

St. Maarten – Business owners who live on the French side but are not born there and have a business on the other side of the border need a work permit if they want to obtain a hurricane emergency pass the head of the Disaster Management department Paul Martens said yesterday.
Formally, business owners have to submit proof that they have paid their business license fee plus a valid St. Maarten ID-card. But foreign business owners who live on the French side do not have such an ID-card. They must show a valid work permit to obtain their hurricane pass.
The hurricane emergency pass only authorizes its holders to visit their place of business after a hurricane to assess damages. They will only be able to visit their business during certain hours that will be announced by the Prime Minister in a curfew situation.
