St.maarten – While it looks that there is still an awful lot of work to be done, coordinator erno Labega sticks to the deadline of August 15 for the completion of the new government administration building on Pond Island. The Council of Ministers is expected to move into the fourth floor of the building by September 1. “In case we miss the august 15 deadline, we still have a little cushion,” Labega said yesterday afternoon during a tour of the building.

Prime Minister William Marlin had promised the tour during last week’s press briefing and he was good for his word.

Ceiling panels are still missing here and there, the tiles in the reception area of the building still have to be put in place and the current front door is a temporary solution until a more classy door arrives. The tiling of the reception area will begin at the end of this week.

Labega works closely together with project managers from the building’s owner SZV – Hans de Bruyne, Emmet Padam sing and Gaby Lammerding. “Everything is on schedule,” de Bruyne says.
