St. Maarten – St. Maarten’s utility company GEBE Managing Director William Brooks said yesterday that the company will appeal the court ruling that orders it to repay a large amount of money to the Babitbay Beach Development Corporation (Westin St. Maarten). The court found that GEBE charged Babitbay’s Westin Hotel too much for the water it uses and also declared the fuel clause on the water bills unlawful.
The consequences of the court ruling are potentially devastating for the utilities company.. “We will fight this,” Brooks said. “Our attorneys are working on it.”
