St. Maarten – Playing like the champions they are, the 2011 champions Paradise Inn defeated the St Maarten Youth United 16-0 in what can only be described as a clinical display of team work and ball control when the futsal competition entered its fifth week on Sunday.
In a show of force, the defending champions have chalked up 41 goals after playing only three matches and only four goals were scored against them so far. Hatricks came off the booths of Armanto Kemble, Jason Lindo and Loxely Parker. Lindsay Moncherry and Unrique Spier netted doubles and one each came from Feroz Bakas, Basil Wong and Akash Singh.
The FC Strikers ended the winning streak by the Fun Makers who were having a good time since the start of the competition. They were defeated by 4 goals to 2. In game four, Flames United who came with a renewed squad failed to capitalize on their improved game.
The United Stars, which has a group of promising young players, didn’t bend under the pressure and was a worthy contender. At the end of the regulation time, they shared the points equally: 4-4.
The game of the day between Ghetto Boyz and St Maarten FC attracted many fans. At the end of the first half it seemed like St. Maarten FC had control and opportunity to win the match but Dacosta Douglas (aka Lepki) of Ghetto Boyz took full control of the game in the second half helping his team to a 5-3 victory. Due to their failure to field a complete squad Emile Photo forfeited the first game.
