Fundraising concert in aid of disabled

POSTED: 09/20/12 12:50 PM

GREAT BAY-From Mozart to Jazz is the theme of a fund raising activity in aid of assisting people that are physically challenged hosted by Top Promotion committee Be Able. The event will be held on Saturday September 29 to cover expenses of the group’s planned awareness week in November.

The evening begins with a cocktail party at 6:30 p.m. with Prosecco wines donated by the firm Mixitalia in Almond Grove. Organizers promise a musical journey through the centuries ending in the modern era at the Rockhouse Café at Princess Port-de-Plaisance, the venue for the event.

At 7:15 p.m. the concert will start with a variation of light classical music from Mozart and Brahms. The artists that will be displaying their musical talents in this section of the program are Magali Legouais on the piano and Carole Bayly, two highly qualified music performers and teachers.

At 20.15 there will be an intermezzo and the guests can enjoy mouthwatering dishes from the buffet dinner, especially prepared for the occasion.

The second part of the program begins at 9:15 p.m. and features local artists like Neville and Isidore (Mighty Dow) York on steelpan, Marelina Turcanu on the piano vocalist Lavaugh Henry, who will sing some classical pieces. The evening will end with a special rendition of our physical challenged artist Ramon Wilson.

Tickets for the event can be obtained at the office of Krebbers N.V. in Madame Estate above the office of Henderson Insurances.

The Be Able organization strives to improve the circumstances of the disabled in our country so that they become more integrated in our society. The Be Able committee also wants to involve them more in activities like sports. In this regard a wheelchair tennis tournament is also being planned where top players will attend including the gold, silver and bronze medalists of the recent Paralympic games in England.
