Front Street traffic stymied

St. Maarten – Taxi drivers as well as those doing normal deliveries along Front Street yesterday were faced with two obstacles, the barricading of the road which allowed vehicles to circle the courthouse and the irrigation repairs to a section of road in the vicinity of the Diamond Casino.
The Hendrik Straat along the courthouse was blocked for security reasons related to the appeals court hearing of Sherwan Roberts and Curtley Allison Richards who are serving life sentences for the so called Regatta-murders.
With one ship in port, this situation which could not have been avoided infuriated taxi drivers. But the officers of the law had their specific responsibilities and so did the technicians from Gebe, who were obviously busy repairing a damaged line.
