French open festival with music debate

MARIGOT – A panel discussion on the effects of music on St. Martin Youths and a discussion around the St. Martin songs: “Oh sweet Saint Martin Land” and “St. Martin is my home” will serve to open a music festival being hosted by the Section Arts and Culture  in the Department of Human Development. Wendell Moore will moderate the discussion which will be aired live from MSR Cable’s studio between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The panelists are Emmanuel Paines, Funk Gumbs, Betty Nisbeth, Ruffy and Arlene Jeffry.

The festival will continue tomorrow with a day long program that begins at 9:00 a.m. At that time SM FUNK will play at Front de Mer and Gunslingers steel pan will play at Parc de l’hôtel. The two groups will then switch locations and play again beginning at 11:00 a.m. At 3 :00 p.m. there will be a karaoke session followed by performances beginning at 5:30 p.m. The lineup includes: All stars Band, Symphonie, Sunbingy (prince sunbingy) and an honoring ceremony for Petin Ratchel, Benjamin Victor and Lino Hughes. There will also be performances by Paul Emmanuel School, Simple D, Junior Lion, JLP: The street players and Ti Fey la Ka Soné.
