POSTED: 07/11/11 12:25 PM

St. Maarten– The Advisory Councils of the Dutch and the French side met yesterday in the new parliament building, primarily to exchange information. The Council-members also paid a courtesy call to Governor drs. Eugene Holiday and to Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams.
The French side Advisory Council is a member of the Federation of French Advisory Councils. This federation organizes an annual meeting; this year’s edition took place in Guadeloupe. The conference started last Monday and ends today.

The last three days of the meeting were held in Saint Martin “as an illustration of the principle of decentralization that characterizes the French administrative system,” the Advisory Council said in a press statement that was issued after the get together in the parliament building where members exchanged information under the presidency of Mavis Brooks-Salmon.
