St. Maarten – The book delivering festivities at the Sint Maarten primary schools has come to an end. Between January and the first week of March the Beyond Writing Foundation has visited eighteen primary schools to present and delivered boxes containing 25 copies of the book Freedom Salsa.

The festivity was organized by school representatives together with the project manager of BWF, Ingrid Holaman.  Each school put another accent to the program. One putting emphasis on the children executing the program (a kind of Children for Children), while other schools had an adult representative being MC of the program.

The winning poems featuring in the bilingual book, written by local children were recited or read by children. Every time it was a surprise how the poems were performed. The BWF representatives and sponsors, WIB, Gebe and VNP were warmly welcomed to the schools that were nicely decorated with Freedom fists with broken chains, kites and other freedom symbols.

“I am happy to close up the program with many good remarks of appreciation of the schools,” Beyond Writing Foundation president Loekie Morales stated in a press release. “BWF hopes to get sponsors now to be able to hand over books to children homes and undocumented schools.”
