St. Maarten – For the first time in recent years, five local gospel recording artists will share one stage for the Sounds of Freedom, Faith and Worship Concert.
The event is the brainchild of Zamar Musical Productions and will be held on Saturday November 3 at the Belair Community Centre from 7:45 pm. The lineup includes Desmond Forde, Alicia Liverpool, Giselle James, Dion Gumbs and Jervier Honore. Some of the artists have already recorded music under the Zamar label, but according to producer Adrian Scott, his aim is to bring nationwide, collective exposure to a unique group of talented people.
“This is the first time that all of the artists will be performing together and although we had made a few attempts in the past to host an event of this nature, it never materialized. It is happening at the right time in the right place for the right reasons,” Scott stated.
Scott himself is a renowned local composer and pianist who has shared the stage with the likes of Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Nicole C. Mullen, Kurt Carr, CeCe Winans, Prodigal Son, Chevelle Franklyn, Jason Mighty, DJ Nicholas, DJ Stichie and Papa San, all big names in gospel music.

He found the love for music at the tender age of 12 and for more than a decade has been able to express his creativity by composing and producing music for albums, jingles, multimedia, motion pictures and other forms of entertainment.
Since launching Zamar Musical Productions he believes that it has become a home where one’s talents can be perfected and properly packaged to further develop the music industry on the island.
“St. Maarten has great talent here on the island and I am honored to produce for some of these artists or just to play on a concert for them. However I still do hope that the talented people here on the island will do more with their gift, you just don’t know where it will take you.”
In the meantime, Scott has his sights set on pulling off a flawless production “where people can expect a great night of celebration and thanksgiving unto the Lord, a night to lift Him up.”
CDs of the various works released under the Zamar label will also be on sale.

Zamar Musical Productions is also on the verge of making its name in the music industry by providing an array of music that will empower and leave a positive impact on its listeners, Scott explained. His studio located on Long wall Road above Island Finance has the ability to produce various genres of music such as hip-hop, reggae, R&B/soul, dancehall, pop, jazz, gospel and acoustic.
The company recently inked a deal with Tempo Networks which is expected to bring international exposure for its artistes many of whom will be performing at the Tempo Turns 7 week of activities here. Tempo’s cameras will be at the Sounds of Freedom Concert as well.
