Four men ambush septuagenarian

St. Maarten – Four men ambushed a 70-year-old man when he was about to enter his house on Grenada Road in Madame Estate on Saturday evening at around 8.45 p.m. The robbers hit the man above his right eye and tied him up with duct tape. Then they robbed him of his money and turned the living room of the house upside down.

When they left, they took their victim’s Blackberry and the keys of his grey four-door Kia. They drove off with the car.

The victim managed to wrestle himself free of the duct tape after some time and he went outside to call for help. The neighbor’s daughter heard his calls and alerted her mother who called the police.

The robbers must have been waiting in the yard, because the victim told police that he noticed the gate was practically of its hinges when he got home. The lights on the porch were also out. The victim found this strange, because these lights usually come on with a sensor. When he walked to the front door he thought he saw movement in the yard, but it was rather dark and he did not know what to make of it. When he took out his keys the four robbers descended upon him and attacked him. The police are investigating the robbery.
