St. Maarten – The Voice of Our Children in its ongoing efforts to inspire and promote the talents of the island’s youth created a jingle titled “Take it to the sky,” especially for those students soon leaving the island to further their studies abroad. The song will be launched at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library on Saturday in the presence of a delegation and blessed by a preacher. It will be part of the travel package departing students receiving and will be released to the public after the launching.

The lyrical content of the jingle was made up by the VOOC members, while local rapper “Versatwizy” sang and produced the jingle. Some of the singing voices of the VOOC members are also featured on the jingle.

Through the jingle VOOC has given the students some positive words of encouragement to take along with them on their travels far away from home.

“We hope it’s something they can listen to when they are down or when they feel like giving up. It is with mix emotions that parents send their children away. They are happy that they made it to a higher level, but the separation is always hard. That’s why in the jingle states, ‘Don’t cry mama I will be back with my papers,” VOOC president Sharmaine Olivacce stated in a release.

Later she’d add, “We feel this song is a positive one for the youth leaving the island as we say to them don’t lose track of your purpose for leaving, keep your head up high, make your parents proud and please return with a paper in your hands. Yes you can do it!”
