St. Maarten – Leader of the National Alliance (NA) and Member of Parliament William Marlin expects to complete his tasks of forming a new government that will work in the best interest of the people of St. Maarten by Wednesday, September 24.

Marlin, who was appointed formateur by Governor Eugène Holiday, has met three times with the governor to update him on the progress he made since his appointment

The governing program for the period 2014 – 2018 is expected to be completed before the swearing in of the new parliament and Government on October 10th and 11th.

A team of 9 people, three each from the United St. Maarten (US) Party, Democratic Party (DP) and National Alliance (NA) have been working tirelessly to realize this goal, Marlin said. A team of professionals from Bearing Point was also brought in to support the team.

All of the candidate ministers have been identified and Marlin will start interviewing the candidate ministers this week.

Each candidate will have to complete the forms necessary in accordance with the National Ordinance of May 22, 2013, including the integrity declaration and the questionnaire in reference to background, activities, financial and tax position and interests. Each candidate must also submit a declaration from the tax department, the Inspectorate and the Receiver.

Once all the forms have been completed the formateur will forward these and request the screening of all the candidate ministers by the Public Prosecutors Office for the judicial background check. The security background check will be done by the Security Services.

Once formateur Marlin has all the completed forms including tax declarations and the screening results of the candidate ministers, he will present his final formation report along with the governing program to Governor Holiday.
