First group completes USM and WIB pilot project

St. Maarten -The first group of students to have successfully completed the joint pilot project of the University of St. Martin and the Windward Islands Bank– which allows students to gain “specialized certificates” that are transferable to USM credits–  are carded to receive their certificates on February 27th.

USM and the WIB entered an agreement to run the pilot project “Towards an Associate Degree in Business for St. Maarten Professionals.” Concretely, this entailed the method of having workers take courses at the USM whereby they gain specialized certificates which are transferable to USM credits. Once they have obtained 67 credits they are eligible to receive an Associate Degree of the USM. The pilot is said by the USM to have met with much success.

To celebrate the accomplishment and introduce the public to the program, the first round of ceremonies honoring those participants who have passed the first set of courses that were offered in 2014 will take place on Friday, February 27th from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. At this ceremony, the middle management of the Windward Islands Bank Ltd. will be receiving their certification.
