Fifteen-year old arrested after armed robbery

St. Maarten – A fifteen-year old boy was arrested after an armed robbery at the Daily Extra supermarket in Simpson Bay on Saturday evening. Police received a call about the robbery at a quarter to nine. The robbers had fled the scene in a small black car. Officers found the vehicle in the area. The boy, identified as K.D. was sitting in the car and officers found a loaded shotgun on the backseat.
Police arrested the boy and confiscated the weapon.
The police report did not confirm that an off duty police officer foiled the robbery. The report indicated there were more people involved, but it did not specify a number. Witnesses said that however that there were three armed men or boys on the scene.
