ESPN Caribbean runs Heineken Regatta special

St. Maarten – ESPN Caribbean recently aired a 25 minute feature on the 32nd annual Heineken Regatta which took place from March 1 to March 4. The feature showcased the highlights and history of the competition, as well as the beauty and culture of the island. The ESPN Caribbean special gave viewers a first-hand account of the competition on board one of the event’s main contenders, as well as a behind the scenes view of boats from the past that have been restored to their original beauty. The special showcased each of the three days’ events, featuring interviews with many of the event’s competitors and displayed the standings of each race. The robust parties held before and after the Regatta, as well as the local St. Maarten cuisine and culture were also highlighted.

The annual St. Maarten Heineken Regatta has become a world-wide, one-of-a-kind sailing event with exciting entertainment, musical performances and parties that has attracted tens of thousands of sailors and enthusiasts over the years. This International event plays host to more than 32 countries and over 180 entries, making it the largest regatta in the region. The actual competition consists of round-the-buoys contests and point-to-point destination races against the backdrop of St. Maarten’s breathtaking coastal views.

The 33rd Annual Heineken Regatta will be held February 28 to March 3, 2013.
