Entrepreneurs must look to the internet

St. Maarten —Local entrepreneurs must start looking to the internet for opportunities to reach a wider target audience and expand their market share and hence their businesses, says visiting entrepreneur Kenton Lord.

According to Lord, who is one of the keynote speakers for the foundation Info Biz Global Entrepreneur week of activities, globalization is alive and well. He encourages persons who are established in business, those who are just starting out and those who are thinking of starting a business to consider the opportunities the worldwide web provides. He believes that through doing this, entrepreneurs will be able to connect with factories and other international businesses for better deals on supply and demand while broadening their existing businesses providing a more significant presence.

“Young people in particular should make use of this opportunity. They should see the same opportunities for business as the older and probably more established ones but they must put their own spin on it,” Lord advised. He explained that while there are many proven methods that make a successful business, he believes that the most important component is passion.

“A good entrepreneur must have passion. He must develop his brand in his own unique way and get it out to the world,” Lord says. A native of Trinidad, Lord is one of the Caribbean’s most successful young entrepreneurs. He got his start selling text books at discounted prices while studying at Florida Institute of Accounting. While completing his Bachelor’s in Accounting he was able to make a living and pay for his own schooling through this. A rising entrepreneurial star, Lord recently started another internet based business focusing on hair. He is recognized by his peers as an entrepreneur who knows how to spot opportunities and transform them into successes.

Lord will be sharing his own brand of knowledge on how to create your own success in business to participants of the foundation info biz networking events during the week of networking events organized by the foundation. Close to 100 participants have already registered to participate in the events and director of infobiz Ife Badejo said there are limited spaces left. Persons wishing to participate and learn more may contact Badejo at 523-1842.
