WILLEMSTAD – Oswald van der Dijs, who sits on the Board of Directors of Aqualectra, has filed a complaint of slander at the Public Prosecutors office in which he names Emsley Tromp as the offender. Tromp is the embattled Director of the Central Bank of Curacao and St. Maarten who has filed corruption charges against three members of the Schotte cabinet.

Van der Dijs’ lawyer Quincy Carrega confirmed the complaint’s filing. He says his client is angry the Tromp named him as mediator in a deal that Minister of Economic Affairs Nasseer El-Hakim allegedly to make with a Mr. Gansher, who wants to operate a fuel bunkering facility for cruise ships. El-Hakim allegedly said he’d give Gansher the license, if he could have one cent of every liter of oil sold from the facility.

Carrega said his client denies knowledge of the deal and participation in brokering it.

“My client wants to give all assistance, both in his accusation and the ones leveled by Tromp,” Carrega added.
