Editorial: Something is cookingPOSTED: 01/31/12 12:46 PM
In a surprise move, the National Alliance withdrew its request for today’s second meeting of parliament about the voting-behavior of UP-MP Jules James on November 17.
While the actual reasons for this move remain obscure, it’s hard to shake the feeling that something is cooking, and that this will come to a boil with lightning speed in the next couple of days.
Morally, James’ position as parliamentarian has become untenable, and the only one who does not seem to realize this is James himself.
The question is whether he still has the support of his faction and how the opposition intends to deal with the situation now that it has decided to cancel today’s meeting.
If James thinks he is off the hook, he is most likely grossly mistaken. But then, he still has the option “to do the honorable thing.”
