Editorial: Hollow phrases

The prosecution made short shrift yesterday of most of the arguments defense attorneys presented in the Vesuvius trial on Monday and Tuesday.
Of course, not everything is what it seems and it is in the end up to the independent judge to separate facts and fantasy.
While most attorneys handled their job professionally, we also witnessed some showmanship that probably works well in an American sitcom but that seems to have no place in a courtroom where life sentences are at stake.
Attorneys are of course at liberty to proceed as they deem fit, but at the end of the day solid arguments yield better results than what now comes across as hollow phrases.
Today, attorneys get one more shot at the case the prosecution has meticulously laid out before the countdown to judgment day begins.
