Dutch senators visit next week

St. Maarten – Next week Thursday a seven-strong delegation of the Dutch First Chamber will pay a working visit to St. Maarten. The delegation, headed by the chair of the senate’s committee for Kingdom Relations Marijke Linthorst, arrives late in the afternoon on the island. At 7 p.m. there is a one-and-a-half hour meet and greet event with citizens at the Cultural Center on Back Street.

The next morning the senators begin with a visit to Governor Eugene Holiday, followed by visits to the police force and to the government. The senators will have lunch with Members of Parliament. In the afternoon the parliament takes the Dutch politicians on a tour of several projects and locations.

The delegation consists of Marijke Linthorst (PvdA), Thom de Graaf (D66), Sophie van Bijsterveld (CDA, Peter van Dijk (PVV), Ben Swagerman (BVVD), Nanneke Quik-Schuijt (Socialist Party), and Ruard Ganzevoort (GreenLeft). Staff associate F.I. Wolf and clerk F.J. Bergman accompany the delegation.
