Drunken tourist in coma after accident

St. Maarten – A drunken tourist from Great Britain, identified by the police as 30-year-old G.D.R. was hit by a car when he attempted to cross the Welfare Road near La Bamba in Simpson Bay on Saturday morning around 3.30 a.m. The man suffered several bruises to his body and a concussion. He was treated on the spot by paramedics and then transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center where he fell into a coma. The traffic department is investigating the accident.
