St. Maarten Canadian recording artist, songwriter, and actor Aubrey Drake Graham who goes by the stage name Drake was spotted in St. Maarten last week where he took a much needed vacation after a year of chart topping hits. On Tuesday, December 18 word broke that the Toronto rapper who falls under the Young Money Entertainment label was on the island and reportedly staying at the Westin Dawn Beach Resort and Spa. This led many of his fans, particularly teenaged girls to head all the way up to Dawn Beach to get a glimpse of the superstar. Their efforts proved futile but on Wednesday Drake was spotted at the Tantra Night Club and Sanctuary in Maho.

The Best I Ever Had singer was the life of the party among an estimated 1,500 people that crammed into Tantra for the night club’s Ladies Night.

The New York Post followed his retreat here and reported that “first, the Take Care rapper got in the DJ booth and stayed there for about 20 minutes hyping up the crowd. Though, he didn’t bust any rhymes, sources later spotted Drake rapping along to the music, popping bottles of champagne at his table. The Find Your Love rapper also happened to bump into Machine Gun Kelly at the same party. After connecting, their respective entourages started partying together.”

Drake has sold over 5 million albums worldwide. His work has earned him three Juno Awards, three BET Awards, and holds several significant Billboard records. With twelve number-one singles, Drake has more than any other artist on Billboard’s Rap Songs chart. With ten number-one singles he also has more than any other rapper on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, passing Jay-Z in August. He is one of two artists (the other being 50 Cent) that has simultaneously occupied the chart’s top three positions.

Drake also writes songs for other artists, including Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx. He featured as a voice actor in Ice Age: Continental Drift and was tied with Rihanna for the most nominees at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. He was ranked No. 2 on MTV’s Hottest MCs in the Game VII list in 2012.

He is among the long list of celebrities that choose to hideaway on both the French and Dutch sides of the island.
