St. Maarten – Just a few weeks after assembling behind the zoo on the Ring Road to show their support for the construction of a drag racing strip, the St Maarten Drag Racing Association will stage a peaceful car and bike show this upcoming Sunday on the parking lot opposite the Central Bank.
The organizers have extended an open invitation to the owners of sports cars and bikes to turn up for the event which is scheduled to start at 2.00 p.m. and conclude at 6.00 p.m.
“This show will demonstrate the unity, harmony and togetherness of the various nationalities on St. Maarten that has existed for many years,” said Charles Benders, President of the SMDRA. Among the vehicles will be on display are drag race cars that will be travelling for the event in St. Croix slated for November 16,17 and 18. More information for spectators travelling along can be obtained during the show.
According to Benders, three cars were recently purchased in USA. “These cars belong to iconic top drag race ambassadors that have made St. Maarten proud over the years as they travel abroad to participate in international events,” Benders added.
Two of those cars will form part of the peace-full line-up and racing vehicles travelling to St. Croix. “The fleet of St. Maarten drag racing cars is expanding by the day with the addition of these three cars,” Benders pointed out.
Experienced top international car tuners will be brought to St. Maarten to prepare some cars before they leave St. Maarten for an event overseas. The public will be able to bring their family along to take pictures and ask questions to drivers and get information about safety measures.
