Dominican tourist severely beaten in Simpson Bay

St. Maarten – M.W. of Dominica, who was staying in St. Martin, has been identified as the man who was ill-treated by two to three other men in Simpson Bay around 2:00 a.m. on April 9 – Easter Monday. The confirmation was done in a release issued by Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson.
W.’s girlfriend told police that she had left him in Soggy Dollar Beach Bar to get something to eat at McDonalds. When she returned she was told W. had gone looking for her and decided to stay near the entrance waiting for him. An acquaintance found her there later and told her that W. had been attacked.
Police report finding W. lying on the ground of the McDonalds drive through bleeding profusely from a wound to his head. His skull had been fractured, had wounds on his face and was unconscious.
Paramedics also went to the scene and treated W. before taking him to the St. Maarten Medical Center. On Tuesday the hospital informed the police that W. was flown to Guadeloupe in very critical condition at approximately 4:00 p.m.
The police have launched an investigation and have asked that anyone with information contact them to come forward and assist them.
